Both natural and artificial disasters—such as floods, droughts, industrial accidents, and fires—pose significant risks to Ghanaian communities. Limited emergency preparedness and response mechanisms exacerbate the impact of these disasters.
Why is it crucial to address?
Floods displace 100,000+ people annually and cause damages worth $30 million each year.
The most affected areas include the northern regions, where flooding frequently disrupts livelihoods.
Fire incidents caused 210 fatalities and $2 million in losses in 2022.

What GRACE is calling for?
GRACE seeks the following:
Disaster Preparedness Training:
o Conduct workshops on emergency response for community leaders.
o Provide basic emergency kits to high-risk households.
Rapid Response Mechanisms:
o Deploy mobile clinics and temporary shelters during crises.
o Partner with NADMO to streamline emergency logistics.
Post-Disaster Recovery Support:
o Assist in rebuilding efforts for homes, schools, and healthcare centers.
