Across Ghana, life-threatening challenges persist due to insufficient awareness and action. Disasters, inadequate public health outreach, environmental degradation, and crumbling infrastructure affect countless lives. These problems are compounded by a lack of accessible platforms to share impactful stories, advocate for change, and rally public support. Over the past five years, inadequate communication has led to delayed responses, underfunded interventions, and missed opportunities for collective impact.

What’s happening in Ghana over the past five years?

Ghana's road conditions contribute to over 14,000 accidents annually, with approximately 2,300 fatalities recorded in 2022 alone. Ghana now ranks among countries with the highest road fatality rates in Africa, with an average of 20 deaths per 100,000 people annually.

From 2018 to 2023, over 200,000 individuals were displaced by disasters like floods causing Ghana’s economic losses from disasters to exceed $500 million, yet only 40% received adequate emergency assistance.

Media coverage gaps delayed emergency relief for over 70,000 displaced persons in 2022 alone.

Cholera and malaria outbreaks remain prevalent, affecting over 1.2 million individuals between 2018 and 2022. Communication failures contribute to maternal mortality rates of 308 deaths per 100,000 live births. It is known that awareness campaigns could prevent up to 25% of infectious disease outbreaks in Ghana.

Ghana loses 2% of its GDP annually due to environmental degradation, yet only 35% of citizens are aware of conservation efforts. Illegal mining affects 260,000 hectares of forest annually, contributing to soil erosion and water pollution.
